Fabio Motta’s SPOT to premiere at Theatre Works

AAR-TW-Fabio-Motta-SPOTBased on a true story, Fabio Motta’s original comedic one-man show, SPOT, will have its world premiere season this Summer at Theatre Works.

A wild exaggeration of true events, SPOT is a hilarious story of young migrant, Mario, and his devilish alter-ego, a wicked dog named ‘Spot’. Uproarious diabolical fun, SPOT is most definitely not for kids!

An 8-year-old migrant, Mario arrives in Australia with the dream of becoming a ‘very good English actor’ and to one day even tackle Shakespeare. With no grasp on the English language and no one to support his dreams, he’s in a… ‘spot’ of bother!

Through caricature and humour, the show explores the difficulties of trying to find a place to fit in, when all you feel is out of place. Performed by Fabio Motta, SPOT is co-devised and directed by John Tummino with movement director Zya Kane.

With tongue firmly based in cheek, this story presents the question of whether Australia really is the inclusive, multicultural place it believes itself to be and explores a contemporary immigrant experience through wicked satire, wild physical comedy and wild entertaining, unforgettable characters.

Fabio Motta is an actor, clown and teaching artist who had the fortune of performing and devising theatre in Australia, Italy and the United States.
