Emma Hack is ‘Popping Up’ at Signature Prints

Emma Hack_Signature PrintsSignature Prints have announced they are continuing their collaboration with artist Emma Hack in a Pop Up exhibition to showcase the exciting release of two new designs from the Florence Broadhurst Archive featuring Emma’s muse camouflaged into the wallpaper environment.

Well known for her artwork featured in the award winning Goyte film clip Somebody I used To Know, Signature Prints is looking forward to having Emma back in the studio after a whirlwind of success.

Emma Hack explains “merging the human body with the wallpaper designs of Florence Broadhurst results in an illusory, stunning image of nude humanity on natural, stylish patterns.”

“The choice of ‘Fans’ and ‘Phoenix’ are bold, oriental designs that are quite different from past works…..in lower editions so very collectable.”

Emma Hack has been exhibiting professionally since 2002, having held in excess of 20 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout  Australia, and has been featured on various television programs. In 2011, Emma’s  work was highlighted on Australia’s ABC TV’s Art Nation program.

Emma began  exploring the notion of camouflage, drawing inspiration from iconic model, Veruschka who in  the 1960s and 70s painted herself into rustic walls and naturalistic settings.

Discovering the iconic Florence Broadhurst range of wallpaper  designs, it provided the perfect inspiration. Signature Prints, the publishers of  the Broadhurst range, gave their blessing for Emma to not only use the designs, but granted her full access to the Florence Broadhurst archives of some 530  designs.

Years ahead of her time, the complex, eccentric and talented Florence Broadhurst was born in rural Queensland in 1899. By the time of her death in 1977 Broadhurst had lived and worked in Australia, Asia, and England; performed professionally on stage; been befriended by royalty; exhibited her paintings; and started an internationally successful wallpaper company whose success was based upon her own designs.
