A night to celebrate women’s rights through the power of laughter, Frocking Hilarious brings together an all women line-up of the country’s funniest comedians for a night of uproarious laughter – with all proceeds going to ActionAid Australia.
The knock out line-up includes comedy legend and ActionAid ambassador Judith Lucy, with Hannah Gadsby, George McEncroe, Claire Hooper, Celia Pacquola, Kitty Flanagan, Geraldine Hickey, Tegan Higginbotham, Laura Davis, Linda Beatty, and more (including secret special guests).
Produced by Janet A. McLeod, Frocking Hilarious raises funds for ActionAid Australia’s work empowering women who are living in poverty all over the world to stand up for their rights. Many of the Frocking Hilarious performers are long-time supporters of ActionAid and are donating their time and talent to shine a spotlight on international women’s rights issues.
“The phenomenon that is Frocking Hilarious, one of Australia’s first all women comedy galas, continues to grow and grow,” says ActionAid Australia’s Holly Miller. “We can’t wait to bring Frocking Hilarious to Melbourne for the first time – it’s a city with such a strong appreciation of arts and culture.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have some of the best known names in Australian comedy in our all women line up, and we hope the prospect of seeing all these wonderful women on stage together encourages Melbournians to come along and celebrate women’s rights.”
“Women everywhere face challenges and many experience forms of violence, injustice, discrimination or poverty. Despite all of this, women have an innate strength and the ability to laugh in the face of adversity,” added Miller.
