Club Swizzle

Club SwizzleFrom the creators of the international award-winning hit La Soirée, Adelaide Festival Centre presents the Adelaide premiere of their brand new show, Club Swizzle at Adelaide Festival Centre from 29 December 2015.

The Space Theatre will be transformed into the coolest bar in town, where the most debaucherous souls in show business gather around the Pol Roger bar at Club Swizzle where legends are made. It’s a melee of outrageous cabaret, gravity-defying acrobatics and infectious revelry, all backed by a band with a repertoire as big as their bar tab.

“Having spent the last 10 years travelling the world with La Clique and La Soirée, it’s safe to say that I’ve met my fair share of extraordinary individuals,” says Creative Producer Brett Haylock. “A number of eccentric characters shine brightest in their natural habitat – a late night bar. It’s where they come alive. The welcoming embrace of our ‘local’ is comforting no matter what city you find yourself in.”

We have brought together a group of incredibly talented people and we cannot wait to show the people of Adelaide the magic they will create. No two shows will be the same, and you, the audience, will play a crucial role. Cheers!”

Leading the way to the bar is NYC nightlife legend, comedian and renowned entertainer Murray Hill, “the hardest working middle-aged man in show business.” A relentless retro shtick slinger, larger-than-life personality and freewheeling ad-libber, Murray’s razor sharp wit and frenetic showman antics have delighted folks worldwide for over a decade. Named “the emcee of choice” (New York Magazine) in the alt-cabaret scene, Murray hosted Dita Von Teese’s sold out US tour and has a residency at LA’s The Roxy on Sunset.

The house band, Mikey Lira and The Night Caps create the thumping soundtrack to what could be the best night of your life. An ARIA, APRA and AFI award winner, Lira’s unique style has found a place as the staple score for many TV shows (Rake, Bogan Pride), films (The Hunter), circus, burlesque and carnival acts.

The boisterous Swizzle Boys will shake things up behind (and on top of) a bar while showing off their testosterone-fuelled acrobatic skills. Flipping, tumbling and flirting their way through the show, these charismatic boys will pour your drinks and steal your hearts.

Feast your eyes on the vision that is Valerie Murzak. Being the Moscow-born daughter of two circus artists it was inevitable that Valerie would grow up to be a rhythmic gymnast and acclaimed circus performer. Valerie’s act is sexier than you can shake a swizzle stick at.

The obscenely talented Laurie Hagen will give you more than your thirsty eyes can drink in. Her electrifying and cheeky persona will rub even the biggest stiff up the right way. Good girl gone more than a little bit naughty, Laurie was the winner of the ‘Best Burlesque Act’ at London’s Cabaret Awards and ‘Most Innovative Performance’ at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas 2013.

And for the first time ever hailing from Harlem NYC in his Australian debut is Mr Dandy Wellington. With million dollar looks, and a sense of style that could easily see him strutting his stuff on the catwalks of Paris, he really is a NY Dandy. Three years after tossing his graduation cap from NYU, Dandy decided to dedicate his life to social awareness through the mediums he knows best: fashion, production, and entertainment.

Club Swizzle wouldn’t be a club without some very special guests. The spine-tinglingly talented Ali McGregor moves from swinging to scintillating to sultry like she’s dangling from a chandelier. Traversing the worlds of opera and pop culture like no other, the award-winning soprano will step through the doors of Club Swizzle for a visit before taking over the reins as Co-Artistic Director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Rounding out the cast is an eclectic mix of sexy sirens, fierce divas and incredible entertainers with an irresistible sense of good old-fashioned showmanship.

Leave your coat and your hang ups at the door as you enter Club Swizzle – a place where every night will be unlike any other. With no stage, no rules and no regrets, there’s no place quite like it. So order yourself something stiff and get ready to dive into the deep end of decadence at Club Swizzle

“The rowdy, boozy, bent atmosphere that made La Soirée a hit is still there and it’s pretty irresistible.” – Time Out Sydney
