Cloud Song

Cloudland exterior nightOpera Queensland is bringing Cloud Song – a spectacular new musical event, to Brisbane’s iconic Cloudland in Fortitude Valley on Sunday 29 March 2015.

This stylish Sunday session will see guests sip on champagne and indulge in hors d’oeuvres, while immersed in an unconventional series of pop-up performances among the dreamy spaces of the venue.

Cloud Song is a chance for people to get up close to powerful operatic voices, as soaring arias are woven with DJ sets and unexpected performances of all kinds. Guests will be free to roam between performances, all inspired by the nooks and crannies and spectacular design of Cloudland, which includes a towering 10-metre high waterfall.

OperaQ Artistic Director Lindy Hume said the line-up would remain a surprise until Cloudland’s doors opened on the day.

“Cloud Song is a brand new event designed to take the audience on a journey like no other, we are keeping the program under wraps so that each moment can unfold by surprise,” Ms Hume said. “We have curated a series of magical encounters where digital music collides with live performance.”

“Our 2015 season is all about new audiences and venues; we want to take opera out of its comfort zone and entice people who would not dream of going into a lyric theatre to have their first opera experience in a fun, relaxed environment. We know once they hear this incredible music, they will be converts to the cause.”
