Chapel Off Chapel celebrates 20 years

CHAPEL OFF CHAPEL - 20th AnniversaryIt has been the jewel in the City of Stonnington’s arts and cultural crown for 20 years. From dance, to comedy, to musical theatre and gallery exhibitions, Chapel Off Chapel has seen it all. To help celebrate its 20th Anniversary, a diverse range of past performers will return to the theatre for a week long series of special shows from 16 – 21 March 2015.

Kicking off the week, Andrew Cook and Loren Hunter (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom) have put together an evening of music and song in We Got This Covered – A Night Of Musical Mash Ups. Covering classics from musicals past to the pop hits of today, expect the unexpected in this evening of beautiful music from two of the most stunning vocalists Australian theatre has to offer.

Stephen Agisilaou’s Vertical Shadows Dance Company presents a brand new work exclusively for Chapel Off Chapel’s 20th Anniversary. PARALLAX: A Brief Love Encounter indulges in the unforeseen shot of adrenaline driven by the infatuating nature of an uncontrollable short-term relationship.

Countertenor diva, jazz singer and cabaret artiste Mama Alto will perform a special one-night only revue, The Mama Alto Revue in collaboration with Miss Chief – revisiting some of her favourite musical moments. Always mesmerizing!

The one-and-only Dolly Diamond will return to the venue which hosted her very first Australian show for what will no doubt be a very special night – An Evening with Dolly Diamond. With help from Cameron Thomas, come along and join Dolly as she re-visits her roots.

Young Australian musical theatre writing duo, and Home Grown co-founders, Nick Hedger and Ben Nicholson will be joined by Alana Tranter (Miss Saigon), Emily Milledge (La Cage Aux Folles, Carrie) and Jennifer Reed (Assassins, Children of Eden) as they present Worth The Breath – an intimate concert featuring the songs and stories behind their developing musicals and more.

Come on down and join the party! Chapel Off Chapel’s 20th Anniversary celebrations run 16 – 21 March with the following performance schedule: We Got This Covered – A Night Of Musical Mash Ups (Monday 16 March); PARALLAX- A Brief Love Encounter (Tuesday 17 March); The Mama Alto Revue (Wednesday 18 March); An Evening with Dolly Diamond (Thursday 19 March); Worth The Breath (Friday 20 March); and Show Off (Saturday 21 March).
