Blink

Stories Like Theatre BLINKA slightly neurotic comedy about love, Stories Like These in association with bAKEHOUSE Theatre Company presents Phil Porter’s charming and darkly funny production, Blink in an Australian premiere season at Kings Cross Theatre from 11 February 2017.

Blink is the tale of Jonah and Sophie. It’s a love story. A quirky, dysfunctional, voyeuristic love story, but a love story all the same. Sophie is worried that she is disappearing. Jonah is very good at keeping watch. With the help of a baby monitor, their lonely worlds collide in the most unconventional ways and a delicately moving and hilarious story unfolds.

But that’s just the beginning, there’s also consensual stalking, an old green coat, and a fox called Scruffilitis, in this bitter-sweet story of two shy individuals who long for connection.

Directed by Luke Rogers (MinusOneSister, Fireface, The Last Five Years), Blink features Charlotte Hazzard (A Man With Five Children and TV’s Packed to the Rafters, ANZAC Girls, Love Child Season 2) and James Raggatt (Spring Awakening, Hamlet).

Phil Porter is an award-winning British playwright, librettist and television writer. Theatre credits include: The Man with the Hammer, The Christmas Truce, Moomin Summer Madness, The Reprobates and A Mad World My Masters, just to name a few. His latest commission, Vice Versa will be premiered by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in May.

Luke Rogers is a theatre director, actor, producer and teacher. He is a graduate of NIDA (Directing), Theatre Nepean (Acting) and the Artistic Director of Stories Like These. Luke has directed at Griffin Theatre Company, ATYP, Seymour Centre, Old Fitz Theatre, New Theatre and NIDA, and works with many drama schools including Academy of Film Theatre & Television, AIM Dramatic Arts, Sydney Theatre School, and CQUniversity. Luke’s previous positions include Resident Studio Artist with Griffin Theatre Company (2014), Theatre Manager of New Theatre and the Artistic Director of The Spare Room.
