Bi-Cycle

ADL Fringe Sam Anderson BICYCLEA hit theatrical show in the making that brings abdominal crunching comedy to the stage for 50 minutes of sweat, soul-searching and fun. Whether you’re a gym junkie or a spin class flunkie, there is something in Bi-Cycle for you at The Butterfly Club this August.

Bi-Cycle serves anyone who’s laughed out loud in a fitness class, it’s for the cardio obsessed and couch potatoes. It’s for humans who are trying to find what they’re looking for. Set in a shiny boutique gym environment, the chiseled and imperfect instructor has a sense of soul, albeit one that has dieted fast and self-destructively, following every single fad from hi-protein to low carb and back again!

Best described as soulful, sweaty and fun, this fourth-wall-shattering solo performance tells the story of one of the most unique and damaged motivational characters to hit the Melbourne stage. After smash-hit seasons in Sydney and Adelaide Fringe 2018, Bi-Cycle is finally ready to raise the heart-rate of Melbourne.

Written and performed by Sam Anderson (Underbelly: A Tale of Two CitiesCanal RoadDrown), Bi-Cycle was the winner of two 2016 Short+Sweet Awards (Sydney) including Best Actor and Wild Card.

“Polished yet intuitive, and thoroughly nuanced, it is the only segment that has us invest in its narrative. The piece is playful but earnest, finely calibrated to utilise Anderson’s charisma, to win us over.” – Suzy Wrong
