Beyond Misérables_editorialThe Australian cast of Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Les Misérables will perform a charity concert raising money in support of beyondblue on Sunday 23 August 23rd at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.

Beyond Misérables was conceived by and is being produced entirely by the cast members of Les Misérables who want to bring more attention and funds to the issue of depression, anxiety and suicide in today’s society, and in particular within the entertainment industry.

The show will be directed by Luke Joslin with Geoff Castles as Musical Director and feature the entire cast of Les Misérables. Featuring Simon Gleeson, Hayden Tee, Patrice Tipoki, Lara Mulcahy, Kerrie Anne Greenland, Chris Durling, Euan Doidge, Emily Langridge and the amazing ensemble cast, this very special evening will see the country’s most exciting musical theatre actors performing classic showstoppers from a selection of Broadway’s most celebrated writers.

The event will feature the music of Boublil and Schönberg, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Alan Menken, Kander and Ebb, Jule Styne and many more.

beyondblue is a not-for-profit organisation working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia, raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery and management of these conditions.

beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman thanked the cast for raising money for beyondblue through this unique performance, and raising awareness of depression and anxiety. “Depression and anxiety can affect anyone, and we encourage theatregoers and those involved in the arts to look out for each other,” says Harman.

Hailed as ‘an ensemble of star quality’, the Australian cast of Les Misérables has earned heartfelt adoration for their “spine tingling and flawless performances”, truly making this a charity event not to be missed!
