A frenzy of tap dance, hip-hop and percussion, Raw Dance Company’s Bang! Crash! Tap! will make its Victorian debut with a quick, explosive season in the Fairfax Studio, Arts Centre Melbourne.
Raw Dance Company has been described as “Disarmingly Phenomenal” by the De Volkskrant in Europe and proclaimed as “Expert Hoofers” by The New York Times.
This is your chance to witness one of Australia’s most innovative and exciting dance companies that’s been making quite a splash on the international entertainment scene.
Bang! Crash! Tap! is a mash-up of tap dance with other genres including hip-hop and acrobatics with an urban style underscore throughout. Along with athletic, inventive and charismatic dancers, the show includes live music from funk to techno to Latin accented by the sounds of Beatboxing from one of the world’s best up and coming Beatbox musicians.
Exploring the art of rhythm, Raw Dance Company’s Bang! Crash! Tap! presents a collaboration by Creative Producer and Raw Dance founder Andrew Fee, Beatboxer extraordinaire Jonny Grant (AKA Dr Rhythm), talented percussionist Brendan Ramnath and some Australia’s slickest tap dancers displaying mind blowing multi-limb coordination, blistering speed and ground breaking technique.
Andrew Fee has toured the world as Director, Producer and Performer for many of Raw Dance’s works. His trademark mix of funk, hip-hop, tap and acrobatics are the building blocks to Raw Dance Company’s style, which he founded when he was just 18 years old.
Jonny Grant (AKA Dr Rhythm) is one of the world’s top Beatboxers who in 2008 caused a sensation on Seven Network’s Australia’s Got Talent. The UK native performs skills you wouldn’t believe and produces some banging vocalised beats during the sixty minute show.
Raw Dance Company also operates as a dance school presenting a one of a kind curriculum of high-energy fused popular street youth culture, elements of funk tap, hip hop, break dance, contemporary dance Beatboxing, circus arts, guitar and percussion. It is independently owned and operated and doesn’t receive government funding.
The Company has toured extensively abroad to Singapore, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Taiwan, China, Japan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Belgium and Holland, and recently performed to sell out seasons on Broadway, being praised as one of the most entertaining shows to play ever at the New Victory Theatre in New York City.
