Audition for NAISDA Dance College’s 2018 Intake

NAISDA AuditionsYoung Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a passion for the performing arts are invited to register their interest to audition for NAISDA Dance College’s 2018 intake.

NAISDA is Australia’s elite registered training organisation offering full-time, nationally-accredited education and qualifications in contemporary,cultural dance and performance studies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Many of the College’s alumni go on to enjoy successful careers in the arts industry, including residencies at Bangarra Dance Theatre, as well as roles in television and film, the theatre, the music industry and beyond.

Chief Executive Officer of NAISDA Dance College, Kim Walker says that studying at NAISDA arms young performers with the skills, discipline and connections to launch a professional career, shaping the way for Australia’s next generation of cultural and creative leaders.

“Training at NAISDA is an opportunity to learn from some of the best teachers and choreographers from around Australia and the world, challenge yourself and expand your skills to prepare for a professional career in the arts,” said Mr Walker. “You are also given the chance to travel both domestically and internationally to perform in front of huge audiences and learn from a diverse range of communities and cultures.”

At the core of NAISDA’s training and development is its Cultural Residency program, which provides Developing Artists with a unique opportunity to connect with Cultural Communities around Australia through a series of on-campus and remote residencies.

“Our Cultural Residency program is something which sets NAISDA apart from other training institutes,” said Mr Walker. “Through this, our Developing Artists are given the opportunity to form lifelong bonds, gain an in-depth insight into cultural life and dance on Country where cultural dances were created.”

Auditions for NAISDA Dance College’s 2018 intake will take place from 4 – 8 December 2017 at NAISDA’s base in Kariong on the Central Coast of New South Wales to aspiring artists around Australia who are aged between 16 and 26 upon enrolment.
