Affinity

Tasdance AffinityAn exquisite double-bill of captivating dance performed by Tasdance and accompanied by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Affinity will be presented at the Theatre Royal, Hobart and the Princess Theatre, Launceston in October.

Featuring choreography by dance icon Graeme Murphy AO, and rising star Stephanie Lake, Affinity is a tour-de-force of the very best of Australian performing arts. In a tribute to another extraordinary Tasmanian talent, Affinity features the music of Peter Sculthorpe AO OBE, as well as Matthew Hindson, Philip Glass, Arvo Part and Johnny Greenwood.

With Murphy, Lake, and Sculthorpe all growing up in Tasmania, both the dance and the music of Affinity reflects each artists’ connection with the natural beauty of the island state.

Affinity is a treat for the senses, as sensuous choreography embodies the shifting moods of evocative compositions expertly performed by some of the best Australian dancers and musicians.
