Adelaide Fringe: Jackson Vs Jackson

The Gospo Collective Jackson Vs JacksonThe Gospo Collective is no stranger to the Adelaide Fringe. Having given us their unique Gospel Experience for a few years now, The Gospo Collective has taken on power siblings Michael and Janet Jackson this year and created the Jackson Vs Jackson show that I experienced on Sunday night, I’m a big Janet fan, so to say I was excited to see this show is an understatement. Throw Michael into the mix and it’s game on!

From the very start of the show, the audience was pumped and cheering with excitement. Jackson fans are very passionate and it created such a feel-good buzz throughout the show. It was hard not to get swept up with the euphoric atmosphere. The band was funky, the choir was melodic and director Charmaine Jones-Devasagayam was simply mesmerising with her power vocals.

Singing all the hits everyone knows and loves from both artists adding in The Gospo Collective’s signature mash-ups and it was a non-stop party! Together Again was morphed into All For You, Escapade into Control, When I Think Of You into Rock With You and Wanna Be Startin’ Something into Black and White just to name a few. Hits! Hits! And more hits! This hour-long show could’ve gone on all night!

The backup choir was fantastic and showed great enthusiasm for each song. The addition of The Jones Commentary and The Jones Juniors was a captivating touch. The Juniors were adorable and it’s great to see a new generation get to know and learn the songs of the Jackson family. Without spoiling any of the details, there were some great surprising touches that had the audience cheering throughout the show.

Jackson Vs Jackson is amazing. If you’re into the Jacksons’ music, you simply cannot miss the opportunity to catch these guys in their prime. Get your tickets and I promise you won’t regret it!
